transmission

well guys...after spending so much money on my vert the transmission is starting 2 fail on me...the car still runs.. but when i put it in gear i can hear a small noise...like when u shake a broken light bulb and u hear that small noise...well thats the sound i am getting from my car. and i know it has 2 be the transmission because i had the engine rebuilt not 2 long ago and the driveshaft also re-done. last thing was the transmission, so any ideas what it could be from the inside? or know someone that can rebuild it? i got a price from a shop near my house and they said it they will rebuild it for $1350.00 (parts and labor) if any 1 knows any 1 that can do it for less plz pm me.

Cheaper to buy a used tranny.

Standard transmissions I see go for anywhere from $50 to $300.

If it's an auto transmission, you can get them for free sometimes, people just give the suckers away.

Transmisson

Dude I paid $50.00 for mine from a friend and had a transmission shop to install it for $125.00 it's been smooth shifting ever since. Check ebay if you can't find one locally there are always a few listed.

by chance do you have a short shifter installed in the car? 'cuz if you do that could be the problem. do you have any problems shifting into any gears?

$1350 to rebuild a transmission?! That's a bit nuts. You should find a different shop.

I had mine rebuild several years ago at a reputable local shop that has been in business for 50 years. They replaced the input shaft, all bearings, 2nd gear syncro, cluster shaft and a few other odds and ends. The cost was $600 Canadian. I think you're being ripped off.

See if you can get someone that Knows the difference between a Pilot nearing going Bad and a Throw out Bearing Going Bad.If the car is shifting Ok,But it has a Grrr when you Put it in gear, then it could "just Be " a bearing..that is If your Clutch is good..I would Honestly get a Second Opinion before Yanking a transmission that may be good.
