tranny question

ok going to change the filter and fluid. was talking to a few performance shops and they told me not to flush the system because it could hurt internal parts. instead i was told to do this.

jack up the car loosen the bolts,

let the fluid drain out. get some cheap fluid, turn the car on and let it run in neutral for a few sec/min and pore the cheap fluid in, let it run till the fluid is run through and starts puing out.

i was told that way your letting the natrural flow and pump do the work and that way you get all of the crap out of the torque converter and radiator cooler part for the tranny.

anyone know if this will work?

im am kind of scared of doing this due to the fact that i dont want to run the car with no fluid inthere im assuming that could lock up the gears right away or something in those terms.

anyone have any input?
thanks again.

An automatic - Hmm - I have heard that also.
I never did understand why changing the fluid would hurt an automatic, unless maybe it was about worn out anyway.

They may want you to sign a release in case it dies next week.

You need a transmission shop you can trust.
Fluid & filter should be slam dunk normal maintenance.

what the heck they want $80 for? I need to do mine soon too but i will do it myself. I like to spend my money on good materials and do it myself rather than paying someone else to ruin it .

these days you must be very careful. some people cant even change the oil right without messing up your car and blaming you.

good luck.

RTV on the pan gasket - follow the directions.

Be gentle on the pan bolts - it's easy to overtorque them & distort the gasket face.
