Tranny to motor separation

I am trying to remove my motor from my 87 N/A and can not get the tranny to separate from the motor. All the bolts are removed and everything is disconnected. It seam that the shaft is keeping them together. There is space between the motor and tranny on the edges where the bolts are, but the middle wont cam apart. Please help.

Yep. the engine is not toching the car anymore. just the tranny and there are no more bolts that connect those two together.

remove them both together then pull them apart out of the car, believe it or not its easier that way.

*I AGREE 10000%@!* I wont ever just install and engine ever again. Matching the engine to the tranny is half the problem of installing the engine. (at least for me)

Matching the motor mount holes, and the tranny at the same time, while making sure the AC and PS is out of the way (without a friend) = NOT FUN.

I just pulled a 90 engine out and it wasn't as hard as everyone says it is. I didn't have much trouble at all.

You could have a bind at the input shaft. Make sure the gap between the engine a tranny is the same all the way around, then try to seperate.

Use a jack to support the center of the tranny and lower the engine down a bit. You are at a bad angle and they wont seperate.

+1.

HAH no seriously though, if the shaft isnt lined up flush with the motor it wont separate. Lower the motor a tad and support the tranny with a floor jack
