hello all. I noticed on my 88 gxl when I rev passed 4k rpms, I hear a grinding sound when im shifting into 2nd gear. It's not doing it all the time but I noticed it happens more when the car has been running for a bit. What's causing this? I noticed too, at idle I can hear sort of a soft grinding sound coming from the tranny and that sound disappears when the clutch pedal is depressed. I have a feeling my clutch may be giving out, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance---Ren

Syncromesh is on it's way out.
Switch to synthetic trans fluid. I recommend Redline brand.
Shift a little slower too. Don't need to pound it.

Also, you shouldn't be running the engine above 4000 rpm unless the engine has been running for a bit.

Lemme know if you need clarification.
