Trailing side ignition

What are you guys using on high hp applications on the trailing side. Is there anything out there that will replace the switching ignitor completely or do you just get CDI boxes and wire them inline between the ignitor and coils?
thanks,
Jared

Lots of guys actually ditch trailing entirely.

I've driven without trailings before. I didn't notice any change at all.

Trailing spark is mainly for emissions.

Keep the ignitior but swap the coils with high performance coils - CDI boxes will help if you can cover both channels.

So Basically run something like an MSD DIS-2, but I'll have to keep the stock switching ignitor because nothing after market will replace it?

That's basically it.
You need the ignitor, because the stock ECU signal is not good/strong enough to trigger the coils by themselves.

No No No No No...
bad.. very bad..

Even ask the guys that made the r26B quad rotor race engine, i'm sure they'll agree with me that having the trailing plug(or even an EXTRA trailing plug like the r26B engine had) will improve torque everywhere while maintaining the same, or better, fuel consumption per power output...
This is because it propergates(sp?) the flamefront at a more even rate across the combustion chamber and other crap like that..

I was wondering when someone was going to mention that...

Ouch, my ego.

A while ago I read a thread about ditching trailing coils.. Basic idea I got from it was they're mainly for emissions.. I didn't really trust the consensus until I suspected my trailing coil failing on my way to work, so I removed it and kept driving. I didn't notice any change in the way it drove.. Then again I don't have a high horsepower application..

Where the hell were you guys when that thread was around?!

We need more BS police..

I think maybe that thread was confused by the waste spark the leadings produce. That is pretty much for emmisions. It's a third spark near the end of the combusion cycle, or their abouts. With the shape of our chamber I would definatly want my trailing.
