Trailing plugs

Do the trailing plugs fire while the car is cranking to start? I don't think that mine are. i put on up near my windsheild today and cranked the car over and there was no spark on it. Maybe the wiper wasn't a good enough ground? i dunno. could this be why my car won't start? any information would be great. thanks

I'm pretty sure they do, but they shouldn't be grounded in order to fire. I think that would kinda defeat the purpose of sparking

Both the Lead and Trailing plugs are firing when cranking. Both fire at 5 degrees BTDC when cranking (starting).

It's right there in the frree, online, fsm.

some people just don't konw, yes, the plugs have to be grounded to spark. the block acts as the ground when they are in the motor.

Sorry I wasn't thinking straight when I answered That's why you shouldn't hold a plug in the air while cranking it over

if you want to see if it sparks, hold it near one of the nuts on the shock tower.
