TPS or vacuum leak

Question TPS or vacuum leak

Hey i have a 87 turbo 2 and i have done extensive resercurh on via this site and my workshop manual on why my car is idliling at 2k. Amur said to check my tps but all the reading i have done on the subject makes me believe it is a vacum leak becaus it idles exatley at 2k. If it is a vacume leak how yould i go about finding a hair line crack on a hose i have heard about some black lite method but i dont have all the details any help would be much apprecated

The method I have heard of it taking a propane torch, not lit of course, and venting it around the vacuum lines. If the way the engine is running changes, you found the leak. I also heard you can mist water on the lines and look for similar effects, which would be the safer way.

you can also use carb cleaner , not quite as volital, like uniqueTll said around all the vacuum lines, or even w-d 40 that will work too and it wont hurt anything either. another way, a real bummer, is too remove all the lines one by one and then plug one end and ,forgive the (verb), suck on the other end. good luck, PEACE. ex ...

Actually, do not use WD-40. It is very hard on the rubber hoses on the engine.

Wouldn't a bad of incorrectly-adjusted BAC cause it to idle high as well?

yes.

The procedure to test for and find the problem is...

Use the FSM to verify the following methods to use for each step below

Check vaccum at idle with a guage.
Check the BAC valve
Check the ACV
Check the cold idle settings and devices on the throttle body.
then
Manually turn down the idle, then
Check / adjust the TPS
Check / adjust the timing.
re-adjust the idle to 750-800.

Once all this is right, the car should idle at norm and remain running with the A/C on.
