Towing and LSD
I bought a Turbo II and was going to tow it home on a dolly with the rears up. I was told I HAD to do this because i would burn up the LSD. Well after the fact we totalled the truck cause the steering lock jumped on us and made the dolly go nuts. Made the dolly jackknife, slid the truck into a ditch and flipped the truck. The car just kinda coasted to a stop so its fine. I just want to know about the LSD. Would it have burned up if it towed it the other way?

oh man, thats terrible. sorry to hear about that. but at least the rx7 was fine.
I towed my wrecked TII 584 miles with the rears down, and the diff is still good.

i dont know if it would of burned the LSD up in the car if you would of towed it with the rears on the road, but i doubt it. if you tow with the fronts on the ground, you have to lock the steering wheel straight. but i doubt you would of burnt up the LSD if done the other way, hope noone was hurt in your accident.

You wouldn't have, hell you drive with both wheels on the ground don't you?
I towed my old GXL on a dolly about 150 miles 4 years ago and the LSD still works today.

No problems towing with rears on the ground as long as tire od's the same as Icemark stated. You probably didn't have the front wheels perfectly straight, as it's almost impossible to do, and at higher speeds the car being towed will wip back and forth and the end result...................

hrmm I always got my car towed on a flat bead.....the fact that when the engine is powering the rear wheel stress is put on the drive train in one direction....when the rear tires turn the drivetrain stress is put on the other direction...even though its still spinging the same direction...
