total loss???
not much. fc's are pretty cheap and so are insurance companies when it comes to you. allthough for real it depends by insurance companies (i think).
what is it, 80 percent of blue book cost for reapirs is a TL? or am i being wrong?

i asked because i got rear ended and my back area, the part where the gutter is around the rear hatch area, on teh right side where i got hit with the most force has damage to it, i can no longer fit my finger in that groove along the hatch on that side to lift up my hatch like i used to before. since its a unibody i wonder how much they will say the cost is to fix something like this.
i'm thinking if they claim my car as a total loss due to this, i will end up selling the car as is and possibly get a turboII.

i was stopped in traffic and the dude came out of nowhere, my lower back hurts, neck a little as well
hehe.... but seriously i have mixed emotions right now, i had big plans for my 88GTU ... kinda got REAL attached to this car ..... i guess i will see how it plays out, but if they call it a total loss and i happen to find a good price TII in my area then it will have been a good thing i guess
p.s. funny thing is that by looking at the car it seems nothing happened to it, only a few blue paint scratches from the other car (03 or 04 corolla). but the bumper now pushes in on that part if u try to push it, and the other side is firm, i almost hit the other car in front of me by like 3 inches. what a ******* *******, he said it wasn't a big hit and to **** off after i called him, good thing i got all his insurance info

yeah my rule is i either get their insurance information or a couple good kicks in to their nuts. and by a couple i mean 15-35 strong kicks. Also being an ex football punter helps.
but that's all in my imagination. i'm going to bed.

.If anything you can just part it out. That's not really the question you were asking... but oh well.
its a lot of work to part it out, the car is still good, but if i have the opportunity to jump on a turboII or even a 3rd gen, i'll do it without hesitation.

If it's any help, Bambi totalled my car about 4 years ago, and all the stupid-*** deer did was take out a headlight, FTP lens, front marker, and crush the bumper a little. The major cost for rebuild (about $3400, IIRC) was that bumper...
haha i don't think this dude knows what happens when the car gets "totaled out."
at least up here in minnesota at the state farm companies they pay you book value for your car and after that you can even have the option to buy it back from them for very cheap. my buddy totaled an older grand prix like a 98 or 99 and he got about 5-6 grand for it and bought the car back for 200 bucks and did the bodywork himself, still had a straight frame and made a few bucks in the process. if the damage is minor in your head and it gets totaled out you can actually have good luck out of it. it's pretty fucked up but very cool.
