I think perhaps the word 'stock' should be thrown in there.

I just remembered that I was super low on oil because of my Rear main seal that needs to get replaced.

So I ended up adding 4 quarts of 20W50 oil and took the FC down a long 5-7mile road and she went past 120 in 4th gear and it still kept climbing.

I just finished buying the rear main seal for $12 from Mazda and will get it replaced Tomorrow. I guess if I'm going to have to drop the transmission, I might as well replace the Clutch with an OEM Mazda Clutch kit.

Was trying to look for a Exedy but they were all $300 and above.

It just kept making me think and think the whole why the FC wouldnt go past 120! after doing every single routine maintenance on that FC!! Now I am happy that I finally found that the oil was really really low.
No offense RX7_Edgar, but this is exactly why you guys don't need to be doing this on the road. No ifs, ands, or buts-anyone driving an FC that is down 4 qts. of oil is driving an FC that is poorly maintained. You have got to be stupid crazy to drive that car fast. Sounds like you've been doing it multiple times.

Now tell me how great you maintain all the other systems on the car-brakes, tires, u-joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends and all those other critical systems-you just don't top up the oil unless it's down 4 qts!

He must never have thought about rolling a vert either. There are some pictures on here of someone(hurleysurf?) that went over for a ride. I never heard the back story of that one, but it didn't look like it was high speed. Hate to see a tire blowing on you at that speed, there would be hair teeth and eyeballs all over the road.

My God....

Every damn "top speed thread" is the same thing: Someone posting a speed they reached according to the stock speedo and asking if anyone has done better. This usually occurs on public roads, albeit these roads are usually "in the middle of nowhere", somehow making it "safe". 90% of these threads are started by young n/a owners. 90% of people that respond all have n/a cars. 90% of the responders also were on a public road (but it was just a backroad....) I want to make two points:

1) Take it to a track, seriously. If you go out to a semi-deserted road to top out your car, sure you are making the situation safer for other pedestrians and drivers. But what happens when your tie rod breaks at high speed on your 20 year old car and you total out? How long until someone comes by to help on the backroads? If you are conscious, and not pinned or paralyzed you might be able to use your cell phone. Wait, did your cell phone survive the crash? If so, do you get reception out at your awesome speed-spot? Do you really want to die or become disabled trying to go fast illegally in your (most likely) non-turbo RX-7?

2) Stock n/a RX-7's are not fast, so who cares who thinks they went the fastest? Having the fastest bone-stock n/a RX-7 is like being the smartest kid with down syndrome. To find the top speed of a bone stock n/a RX-7, simply drive it off the top of the tallest cliff you can. It will accelerate 9.8 meters/second all the way to the ground....

Hate to burst you bubble kids, but a modern minivan can probably do 130+ so really what are you proving? You can hold the gas down really long and enjoy endangering yourself and others in your 20 yr old car? Come back when you have lap times, then we can have a good discussion about who has gone faster.

You completely missed the point. You shouldn't make such irresponsible comments.

This has gone on long enough. Closing topic.

Anyone wanting to read more can search for the two million other top speed threads that contain the same BS this one does.
