Top Mount Oil Cooler
As I was working on my car last night trying to figure out a way to make room for better air flow to the radiator I remembered I had seen a WRX a while back that with a top mount OIL cooler and thought, that might just work considering I no longer have the TMIC since I'm running a FMIC. Considering there is already an air duck from the stock TII hood and some mounting point I think this just may work for our cars.
I wanted to know if anybody has already done it and what it took.
I know, I know I could just do a V-mount BUT considering I already have a new Koyo rad and Greedy FMIC I didn’t want to just pitch that in favor of the V-mount. I've seen a few oil coolers on line but I don’t know if I would need one specifically for a top mount application or could a front mounted one be able to lie on its back and still work effectively. The price isn't bad at about 160 bucks with like 6 feet of line and all the fittings.
So what do you guys think? Please let the conversation begin. I would love to see pics if somebody has already done this and would like to know how well it really works because after all I don’t see how it could be any worse than it sitting between the FMIC and radiator with that little amount of air flow.
