Too Much Oil?

About two weeks ago I put close to 2 quarts of oil in my 87 T2. Two days later while at idle in traffic I blew a lot of white smoke, then 2 days later while waiting for the engine to shut down before getting gas. Before both those times I ran it a little hard. Afterwards I've been adding 1/3 quart everytime I fill up or 1/2 If I run hard and the problem seems to have gone away. So will rx7s burn off exess oil as smoke?

The car will normally burn about a quart about every month is "average" driving.
This is like about a 1,000 miles per month or so?

If you overfill it by a quart, it should be okay.
Don't overfill it more than that, cause the front counterweight starts to "slap" the excess oil level.

1) you need to be changing your oil every 1500-2000 miles....

Why.. in stock form, the cars inject the motor oil into the engine for lubrication of the rotor housings, apex seals.. Dirty oil means clogged oil injectors, poor lubrication.

2) as for the white smoke...... hmmm... smell your oil.... does it smell like gas?? or worse... does it look like chocolate milk?

I overfilled oil by quite a bit... and got a LOT of smoke. Just drain some oil.
