toe eliminators.............

I was wondering, would a person who did autoX leave their rear toe in tact to handle turns better. Or do i have a complete misconception of the eliminators. Im in the process of installing toe eliminators/limited slip on my 90 gtu do to the fact that i would like to master the dorifto technique.

And also how strong are the fc axles if they are enduring more than normal daily stress, should i see if i can pull in a few spares?

As I understand it, the toe eliminators don't have any effect on absolute grip, they just make the car's behavior more predictable at the limits of adhesion. Thus autox-ers and road racers install them not for a raw performance improvement, but to improve the car's drivability close to it's limits.

I am not sure how much I noticed the change, I did a bunch of other suspension mods at the same time, and I don't get out on a track much (ever.) I am sure RETed or someone else who has a lot of track time in their car can give you a more definitive answer.

The toe eliminator is about the only thing I haven't done to the suspension and have no plans of eliminating. I do autocross the car about once a month and have not found it "unpredictable", I have found though after a hard corner the car has a tendancy to correct itself quickly in sort of a whipcracking straightening out effect (yay for helmets!) but it's nothing uncontrollable. That being said I may have adjusted to the car instead of adjusting the car to me.

i have always wondered what the TRUE real benefits are. anyone who has driven an FC hard around the track or mountain WITH rear toe eliminators and WITHOUT THEM: can you tell me what you felt and whether it is a worthwhile mod?

Niburu put it very well:

"I have found though after a hard corner the car has a tendancy to correct itself quickly in sort of a whipcracking straightening out effect"

To add to that, right as the rear end begins to rotate, the toe bushings kick and and snap it back into line. Although I do prefer to not have them and do the vehicle control myself, since it almost impossible to keep the *** end out or even slightly out ot slide thru a tighter corner.

I did it just to get it over with, they are only 50 dollars and about 4-6 hours of time. I'd say it's pretty easy to install them.

I'm doing DTSS eliminator bushings for predictability myself. I want to be able to induce oversteer and not have the suspension fight me. I bought bushings and was shipped 2 sets. Anyone need a pair for say $30 shipped? If so PM me.

You forgot "(yay for helmets!)" I've got about 2 good dings in mine from it hitting the B pillar.
I should also add I am not interested in getting the car to drift, I want to grip all the way through the turns and twists. I've got a set of Yokohama AVS es100's for the streets and and a set of Hoosier AS304's for the track to keep it from sliding around on me.

I am not talkign about drifting, but more talking about losenign the rear end to help the car tun better. I just feel that they hinder the overall perforamce and solidness of the rearend.

I started driving on a BMW 2002, I don't know how to drive a car that doesn't oversteer like crazy :-)

Your going to drifto into a light poll! n00b kid.

They keep the wheels from tilting on cornering causing a verability. As stated it makes the car more predictable to racers. I personaly would eliminate it. Allso I don't think a N/A 7 has neer enugh HP to drift properly. Try more along the lines of 300. HP controll in a situation of controlld slide if very importaint and not having enugh will just snap your front end straight and send you into a wall.
