Ok, this one is really driving me crazy. I just installed a Atkins Street Port. No matter what I do, I can not seem to get the timing right on. It is always advanced, or retarted. The only way to get it close is to slam the CAS to one side. Then, it is only close. I have checked my throttle sensor, I have gone through the steps to adjust the idle per the workshop manual. One this, the BAC does not seem to be flowing any fluids. Any help, would be great,
thanks,
Chris

The engine should be HOT when looking at the timing.
The RPM'S must be below 1000rpm, preferably around 700-800 rpm
The water pipe attached to the bac has nothing to do with the bac's operation.

Ok, here is a pic to help you help me through this problem I hope. Notice the marks all line up. But, the CAS is slamed to the right. Move it one tooth over you have to slam the CAS to the left to line up. I am at a loss. Swaped ecu's Rob, and pulleys, but still no luck. When I start the car and run it, the timing does not line up.

Hmmm that's weird. Are you sure the TDC mark is original? Tried a different pulley? The tooth should be just at the edge with the small black box. Have you tried adjusting the pulley slightly off TDC and then trying to restab the CAS?
^^^^ I have tried them all. This is just killing me. I feel like a rookie again! I have tried a different CAS, Computer, and Pulley. I am at a loss...... I will call Atkins on Monday, but any input is appreciated.
Thank you,
Chris

You have to slam it to one side to get it to run? Try putting it further. Pull out the CAS, turn it a little, then put it back in.
I have the exact same problem on my current engine (which is rebuilt). You can line up the timing marks all you want, but its off by 90 Degrees.

Same problem 475 miles on rebuild CAS slammed to one side timing seems off by 60 degrees. It runs OK but hard, hard first start up of the day. I just wanted to get some miles on her before I tackled this one. Timmed by ear slammed to one side.

Straighten out that pointer a touch. It's a touch bent.
If you've restabed the cas by trying a tooth one way and then a tooth the other way and still have the same problem, try slotting the cas's slot even more on that end that you need to rotate more towards.
I had one engine that was similar to this problem. The ONLY thing I can think of is that somehow it makes a difference the direction the cas drive gear is installed. It's champer should face aft and I might have put the champer fwd. I elected to make the cas slot longer in the direction I needed to go (after trying every concievable tooth off option). It beat taking the cover back off. That car has no problems to this day. I don't KNOW why it was so.

I thought the 2 pointed ends inside the CAS gear were supposed to be lined up with the milky colored screws when the front cover pointer is lined up with the yellow mark? That's what I found when I was searching for this a few months ago, and that's what worked for me when I restabbed my CAS, was right on.

Somthing to consider. Thank you!
Anyone else?
The more info the better!
Thanks

I took the CAS cover off my GXL while the pulley was on the yellow mark It was on the edge of the black pick-up as described. On my T2 it was lined up with the milkey colered screws as dUB described. Now I'm even more confused.

When the timing is set, it should look like the attached jpg: http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showth...threadid=23226 I'm talking about the internal gears and the pickups. The cas is on a scanner so there isn't any cinch bolt/nut
