Time to Play: What's it worth?

It's amazing what I've stumbled into with the wonderful world of rotaries. I own several company's (mentioned so no one asks why I was browsing the site from my job) and the assistant of a client happened to stop by to drop some paperwork off.

As alluded to, I was browsing rx7club.com and the chick goes, "Oh you like rotaries...the wankel?"

I assumed she was just reading over my shoulder to which she replied, "No...my husband bought one as a project car but never did anything with it."

I of course inquire if he wants to sell and she says he'd love to. So I go look at the car.

The car is an '89 very with brand new top, body is very, very good condition, 70k mileage, fair interior, and a pettit racing engine...whoa.

Apparently they were told the car is no longer running due to a bad tps sensor. Umm...easy fix.

I'm buying this car regardless and I know the guy wants to get rid of it really, really badly. I was thinking of giving him $1200, fixing it, and reselling it.

Anyone want to give me valuation on the car as I've seen verts going for $3200 - $4000 in good shape without the engine this one has.

kbb.com says, for southern california, $6,795 in excellent shape, $6,310 in good shape, $5,660 in fair shape. I wouldn't know how the engine would change things. Check kbb.com for yourself to put in your own zip code, options, etc.
