The time finally came

Well guys, i bought my 91 N/A clean and in "off the lot" condition (aesthetically at least) back in october for 2300 and it has done me well!
This past month it has been acting up when i crank it over, did some troubleshooting and determined it is a blown coolant seal in the rear rotor housing..
So it is a minor setback, but it was an opportunity to do what i planned on doing when i first bought the car.

So i picked this up locally for 1300...

And it begins

My next dilemma was i needed a hood to fit but in the long run i wanted to run a FMIC setup with stock hood no scoop, so i was looking for a hood, but i settled on an ebay intercooler with piping for 200 ... I know its cheap and you get what you pay for, but its just a temporary setup for now to get my car running, im not even doing the tranny and rear end yet, all these things will come in the near future before i up the boost over stock

I'll try to keep you guys posted as it goes along

most ebay intercoolers are fine. might as well throw all the wiring away from that swap and look for the usdm wiring/ecu or get a standalone. hopefully the turbo motor isnt blown too.

The guy doing my swap said he's pretty sure he can get the JDM harness and ecu to wire up with no problem...

you are better off using your na harness.

Specifically, what is the best thing to do? use my NA harness and find an S5 TII ECU without harness?
I need this done in the most simple, and cost effective manner possible

yes. you will also need the air flow meter and boost pressure sensor. i have both if they didnt come with your swap.

So are you saying i can use my current harness and ecu and just get an SAFC?

yes. you will also need the air flow meter and boost pressure sensor. i have both if they didnt come with your swap.
I have the BPS, i dont think it came with the airflow meter though.

i dont know much about the s5 swap but it was my understanding that the harness is the same between the na and turbo so you may want the turbo computer as t66 said. theoretically the na computer and sensors would make it run but i dont know how well so i added in the safc but you can get a megasquirt for the price of an safc and have full tunability

there are a couple wires that need moved around on the NA harness (tps wires need extended) but nothing major. you will also need/want to use the n370 ecu/afm/map sensor.

You could, but you will end up blowing it up. Why? The SAFC will have to pull fuel at some throttle positions and add at others. You will not have the timing retard or fuel enrichment in boost that comes from the proper TII ECU.

In one word-Don't.
