Alternator Upgrade - Do I need to modify anything else?

I am hoping to find a local aternator shop and have my alternator rewound for a higher amperage output. My question: with the higher output of the alternator, is there anything else I have to do to my electrical system? I imagine that the voltage regulator should keep any problems from occuring, but I'm not entirely sure. I should be able to just reinstall the alternator and that's it, right? Thanks

I'm doing these for third gens. I can get them to go from the stock 90 amps to over 140 amps. I am pretty sure I can get a second gen one done too.

ok, thanks for the offer, I will keep you in mind if I cannot find a reputable service that is local. Also, do you have an answer to the original question, do I need to modify anything else to incorporate the higher output alt?

No the voltage will still be controlled by the internal regulator. This is especially helpful if you run an underdrive pulley, high end stereo, or a lot of aftermarket electronics.I'd be happy to do one for you. Mine are tried and tested.

I just took my alternator to the auto store to get tested and it failed. They are giving me a replacement for free since the old one was under warrenty. But if I am still not happy with the output of the replacement then I'll look back into a rewind, thanks.

I have a local shop that has upgraded two FC alternators for me to 130amp. It didn't require any other modifications.
