Question TII...what the...

I did a search, and just wanted to clarify the following. The TII is only called that because its the first turbo model you guys got, altho it was available in other markets originally..... there is no difference from a JDM Turbo to a TII engine....??

I know this sounds like a noob question, but I just need to know these things, I have a 1990 Import coming and I'm still doing all the research I can!!

Thanks!

It was called the Turbo II because it was the second RX-7 Turbo made. The 84-85 RX-7 Turbo was only sold in Japan. I don't know why Mazda decided to use that name in markets with the first RX-7 Turbo was never sold, but didn't use it at home. Weird...

Only minor differences, mainly in emission controls. Performance was the same.

NZ, the S5 JDM cars made 212hp instead of 200hp like the US version, S4 i believe were the same.

Wrong, only the limited edition Infini models made that much power. All other JDM FC's made the same (or very similar) power as US models of the same series.

And Infini was the brand name (kinda like scion) that those high-end RX-7s were sold under, right?

edit: Or was that Savanna? I always get those mixed up.

Infini (pronouced Oh-Fin-EE) was the model name (like GTU or GXL)

Efini was the name the FD was sold under for the first 8 years.

Savannah was the brand that the FB and FC were sold under (and is the name of my dog).

So then the full name would be Savannah RX-7 Infini, Savannah RX-7 GTU, etc.?

Savanna has no "h" (like a desert, not the city) and GTU is a US-only model.

Yep, that will teach me to use a spell checker

And I think Canada got the GTU for the S5 models as well, but I could be wrong.

I believe it is also called TII because of Mazda's concept of the Twin Scroll Turbo.
