Question TII Rubber?

Well, my 91 TII is in need of tires and they longer have the Bridgestone RE71 at the tire rack

So I was looking at their replacments. The RE730 (Gen 2). In the 205-55-16 size. They are 113 at tire rack.

What are you guys running? Any thoughts on those?

James

Bridgestone makes a good tire. I had the 71's (205 & 225) on my '89TII a while back. Found they gave a rather harsh ride, as did the Dunlop's. Have tried Nitto's..Cheap, but not much holding power, and became noisy after @ 10,000 miles. I also had Michelin's, they were great, but pricey. Just removed the Nitto's and bought Toyo Proxes T1-S (215 & 235). With all the snow/rain, haven't put many miles on them. The car's been in the garage for about a month.

I just got some Dunlop SA2s (I think that is what they were called) for my '89 TII. I was getting very loud rumbling from my Pirelli P4000s. The Dunlops are very quiet, have a 50,000 mile warranty, and only cost about $85.00 each at tire rack. They are not ultimate performance tire but they ride good, handle good, should last a while, and are not super expensive. I'm very pleased with them.

DO NOT GET KUMHO! if you are concerned about price get dunlop sp8000. i don't care what people say, but a tire once considered the benchmark of highperformance can not lose to a crappy tire manufactuerer, i had kumhos... they sucked.

right now if i was buying i would buy either yoko avs es100, dunlop sp8000

if i had money i would try dunlop sp9000 or toyo T1-s

btw if you have 16x7 stock TII rims spend the extra little bit and put 225/50/16 tires on

I wanted to try the AVS intermidates but they are being discontinued. Yey.

225 eh? I would be concered with lossing sidewall stiffness on that.

I love RE71s on that car. But both of my sets have lasted about 15000 miles. I really like them

Get drag radials (i think 245 is the thinnest tire ) for the rear and azenis up front. The DR's are about 140$ a tire and the azenis are like 120$.

i also need to get tires and im thinking of Azenis, potenza s03's, or Prada Spec-2's. i want to get Nitto 555r Drags but they only come in 245/50/16.

I have the RE730s in 205/55/16 on my 2.5RS and they are great tires. I have no noise or traction complaints, but you may find the sidewall a little softer than some, but its no problem.

I have SP8000s on my RX-7 and they are also fantastic, maybe better than the RE730. The wet traction is fantastic.

The RE730 is a modern tire while the SP8000 is a generation or 2 older. You will find that the RE730s last longer than the RE71s.
