TII and NA Harness Difference

Hello,

I am working on my TII swap and removed the NA ECU and wiring harness. I have noticed that the TII harness has one extra plug near the rubber piece that blocks off from the firewall.

This would be the first three connectors on the inside of the car.

I could not see any connectors underneath the dash that it would connect to.

Please help

Thanx

Michael

is it a 4 pin? if so its the interior boost sensor. if not, be more specific as to what it looks like.

Updated with pictures

Here is a pic of the two different harnesses.

The upper one is the TII harness which has an extra plug on it and the lower is the NA harness.

Patman: Do you mean it is for the boost guage on the TII gauge cluster?

thanks

Michael

no not the boost guage. acutally, thats not the plug i was thinking of. IIRC, that plug is for the knock control unit.

On an NA/TII conversion, the knock box isn't really essential as I understand it. If I remember correctly, It will only retard timing for knock under 4K...just make sure you have a TII ECU and an upgraded fuel pump.

it is never essential, but on a NA conversion it will work the same as on a TII stock. it is a good idea to have one.

Here's what it is:
The TII engine has a knock sensor by the oil filler tube (one wire coming out of it, connector that looks like a O2 connector) this senses engine knock caused by detonation.
There is a control box for this inside the car, above where the ECU is, like on the right side. It takes the signal from the knock sensor and tells the ECU to retard the timing if 'hears' anything. this is a good thing.
