TII conversion

Hello all,

Im converting my NA to a TII and I have a complete donar engine. NOt a complete car. The engine is a 87-91 complete turbo JDM engine and trannie. I need to find a harness and ECU. I have several sources lined up but I need the proper part number. I've been told that it's N374, N370...No one seems to know. Anyone tell me the proper part number? Car is a 90, don't know the exact year of the engine. Just that it's a 13bT from japan.

Any help is much apreciated.

Tempest

If it's a 90 car that you are putting a turbo engine and transmission into (series of engine seems to be in doubt), I'd buy the ECU for a 90turbo car then. The engine can be identified by whether it has the twin scroll actuator on the turbo or perhaps the location of the Knock sensor. The series four had the twin scroll actuator and the series five did not. The knock sensor on a series four is located on the housing with the oil filler tube. Its located just below and fwd of the filler tube. One wire affair. The switching actuator is located on the bottom of the turbo, towards the front. Its a canister llooking outfit with a pushrod that goes aft to a lever on the turbo exaust manifold. It also has a metal vacuum line on the front of the cannister of some length, like a foot or more.

ECU numbers here:https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=N332

http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

ECU Part Numbers (this is the version # that's on the ECU itself)
84-85 GSL-SE N304 18 880A
86-87 NA N326 18 880, N3Y6 18 880
87 Turbo N332 18 880
88 NA N327 18 880
88 Turbo N333 18 880
88 Convertible N338 18 880
89 NA California N350 18 880
89 NA Fed. N351 18 880
89 Conv. CA N352 18 880
89 Conv. Fed. N353 18 880
89 Turbo N370 18 880

N326/N327 - 1986-1988 NA
N332 - 1987 Turbo II
N333 - 1988 Turbo II
N338 - 1988 Convert
N35x - 1989-1991 NA
N37x - 1989-1991 Turbo II

NOTE - If there's an "R" at the end, it's a remanufactured ECU. They
also change the last 3 digits to "881". Example - '89 Turbo Reman. -
N370 18 881R. A remanufactured ECU isn't necessarily bad; it DOES mean the ECU was replaced.

If you have to find a ecu and wiring harness you will be better of going with a microtech. It will be close to the same price and it will not take you 6 months to find both pieces and they might not be good untis to begin with. Go with a microtech

You should not need a wiring harness. Go to your fsm and make a comparison of the pinout for a turbo vs a non-turbo car. The differences for the same series cars is not that big. On a series four it's but approx four wires. Just rearrange some wires at their end points. Maybe splice a couple of wires.

Thanks for the help. The list of part numbers is just what I needed! I have the person selling me the engine finding out the exact year of it for me then I'll order the correct computer.

My mazda dealer gave me the right number for a '90 TII but as someone noted they're pretty clueless so I decided to ask ya'll who seem to have a clue that an RX-7 is different from an MX-6 just to confirm it. My dealer often seems to not have a clue.

I found a company with lots of computers and harnesses lined up. They just need me to tell them the right part number.

What is this micro thing? do they have a website?

I've been told by a few people I don't have to change the ecu or the harness and I've been told my many others that to get correct preformance I have to change both. I think I'd rather change them out to match the engine either way.

Thanks for all the help!

The MircoTech is a standalone fuel and ignition management system.

As are Haltech, Wolf, AEM, and Motec.
