TID Question

I just did the TID mod yesterday, however ive run into a few problems. I read that the line that i pulled off the stock TID is some kind of crankcase ventilation, i capped it off with a vacuum plug and now it seems like the car has a huge vacuum leak (WTF??). I dunno, im gonna try to make it to the autoparts store and pick up a checkvalve (the old one barely works anyway), I assume i can just open atomosphere vent this thing??

i think you can clean the old check valve out, it can be vented to the open air.

That crankcase ventilation line can be open vented without any problems and won’t be the cause of your vac leak. That’s probably caused by your new TID not being clamped down properly and leaking unmetered air into the turbo. Double check your installation, make sure it seals properly.

Your vacuum leak might be your stock blowoff valve, depending on what you did with it...you cant just leave it open air vented without a check valve in fron tof it, as it leaks at idle. The other small hose can be left as-is.

when all else fails use carb cleaner to find the vacuum leaks

With the engine running, start spraying CC area-by-area. When you hear the engine drop its revs, it means that CC was "sucked" into the engine by a small hole somewhere. Thats your leak. Go into more detail (micro-spray around every single line/hose) and you'll find it...

Actually, carb cleaner is combustable. If your revs drop when you hit the leak, then you aren't spraying carb cleaner. The engine rpm's should rise whenever you spray the carb cleaner on the leak, beacause it will suck in the cleaner and burn it up.

Well, yeah I thought so too, until I actually did this, using GoldenEagle CC, and when the CC was sucked into the engine, the engine would almost stall if I didnt give it any gas...

I know its supposed to be flammable, but if it replaces the oxygen, then...

You can use regular propane too.. (unlit of course!!!!!!!!)
Just turn it on and wave it around the inatke area and hoses... if the revs RISE, then propane is getting sucked in- leak.

You're less likely to blow yourself to Kingdom Come with CC.

That silver check valve is just fine open vented, there is no need to cap it or plumb it back into the intake, it might on occassions spew some gross waz however, no big deal.
