Tick Tick Tick Tick............

I keep hearing this ticking sound coming from the passenger side of the engine. I've isolated it to what looks like some form of actuator. Is this normal? I have a scorched cat (premix?); and I have read that the fifth and sixth ports are actuated on my car by the tube running from my cat and suspiciously close to the affending area. Could their be some relation? I did a search and learned a bit about noisey injectors and misc. other electrical problems that may have a simular noise, but because I have isolated it to this "actuator" I think I can rule these out. Any help would be appreciated.

Engine off?
Most likely it's the BAC valve trying to up the idle when the engine isn't running.
It gets confused sometimes and does this.

No the engine is on and it just seems weird; for lack of a better term, that this sound would have come from the engine if it were running properly but what do I know. Thanks for the reply and hope you have something else to contribute.

Could it be the fuel injectors ticking? I hear a tick on mine (not BAC) and I assumed was the injectors....

Before I took the BAC off It made what I would describe as a hum.

small exhaust leak?

If it happens when it's running and its on the passengers side it could just be a small exhaust leak.

It will make almost a "ticking" noise.

If you only hear the "ticking" when your engines running, it's the injectors you're listening to.

duh, its your valves man. your vavles or probably the lifters aren't getting enough oil, hence the tick. Use thicker oil
