The haynes manual And the on-line FSM both do a good job of describing the steps.
I presume your swapping the clutch while your in there?

replace the T/O bearing with the turbo model T/O bearing, Mazda part number F853-16-510. Make sure and replace your pilot bearing. No lube required on the T/O bearing. Change your shifter bushings and add Redline or neolube to the tranny. Go to Harbor frieght in Columbia and spend 30 bucks on a transmission jack adapter for your floorjack. Good Luck!

banzaitoyota has a good point - the pilot bearing is spinning at the same time the T/O bearing is loaded..

Yeah, don't drop it.

Drain the fluid first, or the first time you remove the drive shaft and tip the tranny beyond horizontal, you'll get 1 1/2 quarts of the foulest smelling fluid you've ever smelled, all over the floor.

Other than that, it's a good weekend to remove and reinstall, but it's not bad.

Be sure to remove the clutch slave cylinder or itll get hung up on some misc. lines in the engine bay and youll sit under the car for 3 hours trying to figure out why the tranny won't slide out.

Try getting it out of your hair.

Maybe rotting meat smells worse, but it's a close second
