throttle cable got stuck...
i think my throttle cable got stuck: today i was pulling out of my street and i floored it and when i pushed in the clutch to shift it into second i hear the rev buzzer and i see my tach bouncing at about 9k so i shut the engine off and pulled to the side, scared the **** out of me...
i kinda pushed the throttle a couple times and the peddle popped back up. i've been scared to floor it since this afternoon. i dont think it got stuck on the carpeting, so my question is:
what can i do to make sure this doesnt happen again?
can i lube some where on the throttle cable?

The problem probably isn't with it catching on the carpet, look under the hood. I've had this problem before, the throttle cable was catching on the cruse control bracket (behind the throttle bodie, just trace the cable). It happened every now and then for a while. I tightened the cable by messing with the little brass thingy that's closer to the firewall. Get it as tight as you can, if your idle goes up, you did it too much.

BTW, this probably isn't the problem but it's worth noting. Sometimes if you have the cruise control on and forget to take it off before you go into neutral it'll rev to redline.

Did you remove the upper intake manifold recently?
This is common when you leave the throttle cable and remove the UIM at the same time.
You end up twisting the cable or kinking it, and it causes this stuck throttle problem.
This is why I will remove the throttle cable prior to removing the UIM in cars I work on.

1st check cable routing... make sure there are no wires, zip ties or the like dangling under the dash in the way of the peddle, peddle llinkage or cable to the fire wall... if there is then remove obsticles and test again
2nd cheack cable routing under the hood making sure there are no wires, hoses, zip ties or the like in the way... if there is then remove obsticles and test again
3rd make sure the cable is connected to the throttle body correctly... if it is not then connect it correctly and try again
4th disconnect the throttle cable and check to see that the cable slides easily with in the housing... if it doesn't slide smoothly replace and try agian
5th while cable is disconnected check throttle body movement... if the throttle body is the problem then it may be various linkage issues... easier for you to replace and try again
