Question Throttle-body spacer (black plastic spacer)

Does anyone know where I can purchase the black plastic spacer that goes in between the throttle body and the upper extension manifold (the one with vacuum ports, etc. in it)? The local mazda dealers seem baffled and one suggested I try the aftermarket? Does such a part exist in the aftermarket? I have an '87 TII that seems to be leaking at this gasket . . . an on-going saga to eliminate idling problems. Thanks.

Go buy some gasket material and cut out your own. You will get raped by any parts supplier. I think there are three holes that need to be cut out. Just cut the holes in the gasket with a hole punch and be on your way for under $5. If you need the whole plastic piece then try out some junk yards.

part number is N319-13-645A. They were probably looking in the wrong section.

Is it ok to use GasketCinch in that area? Mazdatrix saids good things about it, just not sure if it's suitable for that particular gasket.

you juse have to be very carefull to get a nice good seal and at the same time, dont block the vacuum ports. Those insulators dont wear out or break. Theres no reason to not have it.

You shouldn't have to use anything, but if you insist, just use some rtv when you slap it together, keeping the rtv out of the air and vacuum holes.

So, are there gaskets in this area then (separate from the plastic spacer)? Is there actually a gasket on each side of the spacer maybe? I assumed it was one piece that did not come apart. If anyone has a part-schematic that shows how many individual pieces/parts are between the throttle-body and the upper extension manifold, I would appreciate a brief description. Thanks.

After searching this old thread is the only 1 I can find about this part but doesnt answer my question.

The question is, Does the plastic piece have a direction it should be fitted? ie. can it be put on backwards?

I noticed tonight while polishing the UIM there is a arrow type symbol & mines pointing towards the cooler piping.

Yes it is directional. If you put it in backwards none of the UIM nipples will work. The holes on each side of the spacer match up with holes in the UIM and TB faces. It should be pretty clear which way around to put it.
