Throttle body o-ring width
Trying to measure out the throttle body oring. Can't decide if it is 3/32 or 1/16 wide? Looks to be about 13 3/16" long
If you're talking about the one that goes on the outside lip, they are available from Mazda and mazdatrix. I ordered a couple a few months ago and I'll see if I still have the part number.

Looking for a cheaper option. Measuring one out so I can order a pack of them through McMaster.

OEM parts are expensive, especially when it costs a lot of money for small stuff. It's always nice to have another source for parts, so good job tracking down some possible replacements.
Now that o-ring area is prone to boost leaks. Are you planning to pressure test your intake piping for leaks when you install your McMaster o-ring? If it won't seal, how many different o-rings are you willing to try? How much time and money would be involved in that process?

I do plan on pressure testing everything after I get the car back together. Hopefully I will only have to order it once If I measured everything right. If not I will try one other set and hopefully that one will be the right one as it works out it will still be cheaper than ordering one Mazda OEM o-ring. Once I figure out the right one I will sell the rest of the pack off and I should make some money back as they come in a pack of 50.

So I ordered o-ring part number 9464K518 Viton(R) Fluoroelastomer O-Ring, AS568A Dash Number 155, Pack of 2 through McMaster.com
The price is $3.24 for the pair and after shipping it was $8.79.
Pressure tested to 20 psi with no leaks from the throttle body elbow. This oring is slightly thicker than the stocker and will be resistant to chemicals and oil. You will have to clean off the old silicone that held the old oring in place to fit the new one and then use Vaseline or something similar to hold the new one in place to install.

In a pinch I have grabbed a bit of gasket material and cut out a piece to go in between the elbow and TB...just another way to skin the cat.
I pressure tested mine and found a leak at the TB, after replacing the o-ring 2 times and then making my own out of gasket material, I found the mystery leak that mazda put by the Thermo wax area. I could never get my intake to pressurize to 5psi. I just run it with that leak. I guess I could plug it some day.
Are you talking bout on the throttle plate shaft . I noticed when I removed the thermo wax and pb blasted the shafts and springs to lube them up some went through the shaft bushing . I'm going to make a block of plate for there also I guess
yes, there is a metered leak from the thermowax through a hole in the gasket material which runs next to the throttle shaft.
normally i just thread the hole that leaks and put a screw in there. looks a little strange since the hole is at a 45* angle but whatever.

Great thread to save money but... Oops! I didn't notice it was for 2nd gen. 9464K115 should work for 3rd. I have a couple of these for the 2nd gen if anybody wants them. Just PM me.
