Chrome won't get you home. Keep the chrome off the mating surfaces...

Personaly though, I'd get that powder coated with that mirror finish crap...

I've had my manifolds polished for over half a year now and they are still shiny as before besides dust that can just be wiped off.

if ur having someone polish them...go for it. if youre thinking about doing it yourself, forget it unless you are a really, really bored. just the UIM took me like 10 hours, and it still isnt as shiny as i'd like.

I would avoid true chrome on the intake. Chrome plating parts tends to make the part retain heat. And on the intake retaining heat is just about the last thing you want to do.

I would think powder coating would be fine, but can't say for sure.

I paid someone to do my alternator, TB, and UIM and they finished it in a day and for a really cheap price. I have never put any polishing compound on it, and it is still shiny as hell. I wipe it down with a t-shirt and it looks good as new.

Thanks vipers.

Brought them to a shop that specializes in that stuff. If you dont have the proper tools/equipment to polish metals it'll be very difficult and time consuming. The cost ($200) was well worth it considering it would have taken me days if not longer and would probably look like ****.

Lots of sanding to a very fine grit, then probably using a dremel polish kit. Am I right?

Just find a local place to do it for you.

I think I remember reading about how polished metals seem to retain more heat because the surface are for cooling is decreased. Anybody know anything about that?
