They look fine.
As long as you dont see any
copper on the bearing or any
pits they will work BETTER than
new. Because journal bearings
are a P.I.T.A. to break in.
Keep up the good work

They are fine.
Copper showing on the "seam" is okay.
I don't see any copper showing except maybe on one edge?

Bearings are cheap - amazingly.
If you're going to insist on new bearings, remember you need to extend the break-in period.

I think they are a bit iffy. If I was doing the build, I'd probably replace them.

Did you spec them compared to the e-shaft yet to see if the gap is acceptable? I'd probably do that as well as making sure the main mating surface is free of copper.

BTW, you're giving me rebuild fever dammit. My wife is rolling her eyes as I type.

Repalce them!!! any sign of copper means they are worn!! ask yourself this.... when your motor seizes in 20,000 k would you pay the 500 or what ever for new rotor bearings to have it back on the road? I hope the answer is yes so get new bearings!!

I'd say just replace them, it's just one of those stupid things that will probably be the weak link in your rebuild. I say drive the extra 500-1000 miles just to have the extra reliability. You don't want to be sitting on the side of the road cursing because your bearing seized to the e-shaft because you didn't want to spend the extra price (which as said before, they aren't that much). I also agree with RETed, that they don't look in bad shape at all, but IMHO if it was my engine, they'd be new bearings going in for sure, just to be on the safe side.

My $.02

i want to follow up with his question. can you just lift the locking tab and slide the new one in like is it an interference fit?

Interference fit - it usually requires a pretty big press to get the bearings in and out.
