thermowax fix?

When I start my car the idle drops and dies.
However if I press the gas and idle it after a while the idle stays.
So I'm guessing that my thermowax is bad right? Or is it the BAC?
I know how to clean the BAC, but how would I go on fixing the thermowax?
Thanks!

Oh and I have an 87 TII

If It Is In fact your Thermowax, I know they are considerably cheap at the Dealership. They charge $45can for It.

well I have a sensor in my thermostat cover. Is that the water thermosensor?
The FSM and Haynes manual got a drawing of it, but that didnt really help.
And my BAC wasnt hooked up, I think thats why the car died.

The Thermosensor is behind the water neck. the sensor on the radiator is for your AWS system. Pulling codes on an s4 is as easy as this:

Well I pull my codes and I dont have any apparently. So now im stuck again. I searched and I found quite a few reasons the car wont stay on.

Anyone got any hints?
Just cleaned my BAC and dont seem much better. Lower idle tho.

just a fresh rebuild with about 150klicks on it.
very hard to start in cold (wont)
turn it over, catches, dies.... turn it over, rev it, then it cuts out like i let off the gas..
injectors cleaned, new fuel filter, new afm, new battery, new belts, ... sparks plugs are new but when I take them out the front look new but soaked.. the back are black as dirt but dry....
once the car gets started ( after about 30 tries) it runs smooth... When driving the turbo seems to kick in when its supposed to but with no power (I dont try to hit it, just comes on after 3300rpms almost automatically)...
compression is prob low cause its a rebuild but it dosent explain why the spark plugs are in 2 completely different ballparks....

I have the same problem as 87RX7TII, but I am in the finishing satages of the TII conversion. Need to install the diff and halfshafts. It starts and slowly dies 2 seconds after, even if i accelerate it it dies within 2 seconds. goin to che water thermosensor.

Exacly how many tries did you do before it satarted.

exactally I dont know..
cold day out side (wont start)
bring it in from the cold and let it sit for an hour (30 tries)
let it sit for the day inside (5-10 tries)
start it then 20 mins later (1 try)

So I should check the water thermostat and the thermowax?
