Running Way Too Rich

Hey all, after driving around the rebuild I have noticed that is is running very very rich. Rich to the point there is residue in the tip of my N1 single, and my plugs are completely black, they were spotless when I put them in the engine, and since have only put about 2 miles on the car, and let the engine run for a total of 1 hour messing around with stuff.

I have the idle screw on the top of the TB adjusted all the way out I think, makes the idle about 2000, sometimes it goes to 1500 but not often. We pulled out my variable resistor and it seemed to be out o fspec reistance wise, but I still have to check that with a better multi meter. Now that the plugs are all nasty the car is running kinda rough, I thought I was getting vibrations from mounts and or exhaust, but I am now thinking that it is just the motor running so rich, is that even possible?

Possible that the low compression associated with a new motor is fouling your plugs?

ok adjust the variable resistor do as follow " this is from mazda specifications"

adjust idle mixture scew to about 800rpm then, turn variable resistor to max (clockwise) then, set idle by idle mixture screw back to 800rpm finally, turn the variable resistor counterclockwise until idle drops to about 730-750rpm

good luck

one more thing I forgot engine must be at normal operating temperature, and the initial set coupler must be jumped with a wire to put the car limp mode, after adjusting is done remove the jump wire!

I thought the idle mixture screw WAS the variable resistor?...

and I'm not sure what you mean by sticking the car in limp mode... by jumping the initial set coupler?
