Thermostat question
I know the FAQ says don't use Stant thermostats in the FC, but when I checked Mazdatrix's website, I found a little note that they put down regarding S5 & S6 thermostats.
Note: We have had several problems lately with the
OEM 89-95 thermostats due to their rubber seal failing.
For this reason, we sell the Stant thermostat for this application.
Should I still go for the Stant thermostat or should I try to source an OEM one?

I have a stant T-stat in mine now, and yeah it works.
However, I don't like how it fluctuates. According to my not-so-accurate temp guage, it doesn't stabilize very well especially going to and from highway to city driving. I'm in the process of getting OEM which i'm sure is a far better quality.
I have it in mine now and I'd rate it 6.5 out of 10. Hope that helps.

Doesn't matter. OEM all the way. If installed correctly, you won't have any problems with the rubber seal/o-ring thing. Buy a spare just in case, they are only a couple bucks for the seal. If you are REALLY paranoid, put some RTV black on there as well.

I noticed that a lot of opinions are coming from the S4 users. We already know the answer for S4's, but thanks for replying anyway.
For S4 people, use OEM, that's not debatable.
It's the S5 owners that I'm more interested in hearing. Even Mazdatrix, a reputable shop, advises against using OEM thermostats. What do you guys think about that? Preferably, I'd like to hear from S5 owners only.
