Thermostat dieing?

I was driving to night and the add coolent light came on, so i pul right over and the the car cool for a bit and check the water.....its full and the over flow tank is also full and kinda over flowing. On the way home the light would come on and go off. Or is my senser dieing? I also noticed that when I came home from work (4-6 hours earlyer) there was coolant on the ground and my over flow tank was full to the top.

I also removed my a/c & P/S tonight and there was a wire that was grounded on the a/c that i thought was to the P/S so I just cut it, well is went somewhere under the battery. I dont think it has anything to do with it cause the puddle i seen befor.

The add coolant light coming on (and the Buzzer should also be tiggered/on) is telling you that there is not enough coolant in the radiator, or you have disconnected the sensor on top of the radiator.

But if the coolant overflow tank (unrelated to the radiator level) is overflowing, there is a good chance either your pressure cap is bad or that the engine is bad and has internally lost a water seal.

Since we are on this subject, my temperature gauge goes up but the needle stops before the middle of the gauge...My thermostat opens and all, is it just my gauge?

Not necessarily..it could be on the Compression side and put air into the Cooling system, not Suck coolant into the Engine..I SECOND the Rad cap (Icemark's comments)..also do a little search for info on filling and Testing your cooling system..tons of info here..

wel I have never had this experience on a rotary however on a piston engine if the thermostat goes bad and is closed it will overheat and blow the coolant out of the overflow bottle. so yes I would say u prolly need a t-stat and new gasket and it would never hurt to put on a new radiator cap

good luck

light came back buzzin again, then shut off over and over. If my coolant seal is messed up, and its puting air in the cooling system creating an air pocket between the senser and coolant would it allways do that and the light would always stay on? im thinking I have a senser problem. It also doesnt run hot, not even over a 1/2 on the guage.

well Ive had the same problem with my coolent system today. there was a wire running from the top of a small sensor on top of the radiator, that was separated. it was turning on the add coolent alarm and light but the temp never went over 1/4 of the gauge. so check that.

since we are still on this subject. I have a preassure build up in the coolent line which i found to be the cause of my blow out on the radiator plug. I have just installed a new alluminum block radiator, new hoses and still the pressure build up. i was told that it must be in the heater core. is there anyway to open the valve in the core or bypass it without any problems with my coolent system?

I have check the wire and it has a few splits (wire showing) here and there so i taped them up with e-tape. I still get that annoying *** buzzer tho.
