thermostat broke

thermostat broke

so i was reading about na 7s temp gauge and i saw i was running hotter then i should. so i do what any1 here would do, i bought a new thermostat! that was the easy part i figured 2 bolts n im good to go. well i broke 1 bolt and the other 1 wasnt there its was broken already. i figured they both off the housing should just slide off n i can pull the bad bolts, it doesnt move what do i do? the housing its stuff there and theres no leaks or anthing but i need to change the thermostat how would i fix this? tia

will the housing come off if the heads of the bolts are gone ? or do they need to be fully out?

thermostat housing can be removed when u take the boltheads off... just make sure you fine the rigth bolt to replace it.

so i went to remove the housing again! it didnt budge!!!!! the heads are gone but its doesnt move, i hit it with a hammer, tried a thin file to make a gap nuthin works!! i dont want to drill but it looks like thats all thats left , if i drill this out any1 kno size/thread of these bolts to get for replacements? TIA

I hope it's obvious but I'd drill a hole smaller than the bolt, to avoid damaging the housing. You should be able to break the rest of the bolt. Both bolts probably broke from overtightening, but also make sure the new bolts are automotive bolts of equal strength or higher.

yea that i kno but i just wanted to c if i can get the bolts b4 i do the drilling becuase its my only car for now
