Idemitsu oil is the only oil for rotary engines, if you don't use it your expected engine life drops from 1,000,000 miles to 7 or 8 miles.

LOL

Seriously, what is special about it:
- It is specially formulated for rotary engines.
- It was used in the Mazda 787B endurance race car that won LeMans.
- It is made from good quality Group IV and V base stock.

Synthetic engine oil is intended more for race cars. It will not have any significant advantage in a street car unless it is operated in extreme temperature conditions.

farberio's comment is interesting, has there ever been a rotary that lasted 1 million miles without a rebuild or even with a rebuild and original rotor housing??

Can't happen, Mazda didn't use Idemitsu from the factory.
