Is there any write up for removing the MOP?????

I am looking for a write up to remove the MOP so I will have no worry about bad MOP. The car runs great, but its just the MOP that just needs to be replaced. I think.

So I should just remove the MOP.

Is there any write up for removing the MOP? Preferbly with pics!

What year is your car? If it is 89+, you cannot remove the metering oil pump.

Is there an MOP on 89+? I mean, I am looking at two 7s.

87 GX
- 5 lugs
- 4 pistons
- no rust
- Good price
- Power everything

90 GXL
- 5 lugs
- 4 pistons
- Good electronics
- power everything
- LSD
- Cost twice as much, but with 1 year warranty, no rust
- In new condition.

the 89+ is electic. if you remove the car goes into limp mode and it won't run at all.

just leave the dam thing on.... it works fine.

All RX-7s have metering oil pumps...But I agree with Scott, leave your pump on unless you have a very specific reason to remove it...If anything, replace the 4 small oil lines and clean the oil injectors if you feel like doing something.

Yes it is OMP, oil metering pump. You are correct.
Don't F*ck with it, like someone said, from 89 on they switched to electric not manual, if you are going to start running pre-mix and that is why you are wanting to disable it, search on here for some info, there is alot. I run pre mix with the OMP still functional on my 88. Works great, keeps the engine internals and plugs nice and clean.

Technically, it's not "oil metering pump". It's "metering oil pump".

FSM refers to it as Metering Oil Pump. I say OMP on occasion cause MOP looks funny.

I removed the mop from mine. I also took out the broom, the dustpan and the vacuum cleaner.
