Looks like you just did.

What specific vert info do you need?

Here is where I'm attempting to fix a problem with the headlights not dimming (actually not going from normal to bright): https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=939113

Most of the stuff is the same as the coupe. Only when you get to the interior, things start to get different.

What do you want to know?

Verts are the same as a coupe from the window line down as a coupe, with the exception of the cross brace on the back of the front subframe(cradle) and extra bracing where the back seats would be on a coupe, and use different taillights.
Come with 15" BBS wheels obviously. Come with lighter power window motors(same that the infini IV uses).
other things:
-sit 1/2" lower than coupes, same sway bars and brakes as Turbo II.
-all are 5 lug and non turbo
-top motors are the same between series 4/5. Airbag model series 5(most 90-91's) had the top switch in the center council.
-has leather seats with headrest speakers
-has different door panels.
-no red interior.

Most verts also have leaking weather stripping which leads to the fact that most verts have rotted floor boards near the frame.

Those leaky vert seals can be fixed using RTV, and some patience.

You can unbolt the whole thing and take it off in a big unit. The hardest thing of working on the top is getting the trim pieces off. Take your time and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Welcome to the Vert Club.

Welcome to the top down club!!!

I can't encourage you more about doing the turbo swap. It's the best thing I ever did to my vert.

There are some threads out there about replacing tops, jackhild has lots of info about that. A Robbins top is the most expensive ($800ish) and what I was going to go with. But with the expense of my rebuild and mild restoration coupled with the economy...I've dropped my priorities down to doing one of the Ebay tops at $400ish. I forget the name of the company, but they get decent reviews.

Welcome to the Vert world. There's nothing better for stress than dropping the top and going for a ride. Hurry up Spring!

I had my top replaced a little over a year ago and I bought my replacement canvas top from the Convertible Top Guys. Here is a link to their RX7 Page:

Thumbs up Why drive a vert with the top up?

How exclusive is this vert club?

I currently have some of the basic qualifications to join the club. I breath and I can post.

40% of my verts are FB's. Two are first gen RX7 convertibles. One is an 85 GSL, red/black automatic with a 12a and the other is a silver/red 84 GSL-SE 13b 5 speed.

I've never seen either of them with their top up.

I've only seen pictures.

The tops look a bit used (think guilley suit).

I'd like to hear about any other 1st gen RX7 Verts that are still on the road.

Peace

sorry misterstyx, i had no idea my e-mail was spamming people!

1st gen verts were never produced by mazda, and from my understanding are a rare item. a company called pacific avatar did the majority of the conversions from my understanding.

don't know too much about 1st gens

Finally figured out that the latch switch in the cpu is the problem of why the dimmer switch doesn't make the headlights go from dim to bright.

On the s5 vert with airbag, ground the white/blue wire on the dimmer relay to get the headlights to go from dim to bright. More details here: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=939113
