Testing an MBC?

Alright, for any of you that didn't slee my last thread...my new hybrid turbo just running off the wastegate (no controller) runs a solid 5lbs of boost and holds it great. So, when putting my boost controller back in (a Hallman Pro RX, which worked fine with my s5 turbo before) the car might hit 2 or 3 lbs of boost then feel like it's hits a wall and blows off what little bit of boost it has made...if you keep holding the gas it just keeps repeating this process of building 2-3 lbs and blowing off over and over quickly. So...the only things I got from the other thread were that either it was a vac leak or that the mbc itself is bad. Well the lines are brand new and connected....and the mbc was working fine on the old turbo.

So...my question is...is there anyway to test this controller to make sure it's functioning properly...or is there anything else that could be causing these symptoms?

ok...this is annoying...this makes no sense...the boost controller seems to be working...I can blow in one end and turn the **** at the same time and feel the pressure changing....so unless there's another way to test it....or something else I'm doing wrong...what could it be guys?

57 views so far...and not a sole has an idea? Awesome...I guess I'm the only person that still uses an MBC instead of spending $500 to do the same thing with an EBC.

is this the factory boost controller? if so the FSM should have some insight, if not, google your particular boost controller.

Maybe you are the only person that still uses a MBC because EBC's are superior. I think it is a stupid idea to run a manual boost controller if you have the option to run an electronic boost controller. Yeah, they are more expensive (300-350 for a Greddy Profec), but I don't think cheaping out on something like that is worth it.

are you sure its the MBC? how could it limit the boost to a lower value than the wastegate spring is set at? I'd look for other things first.

yea tell me about it....with the controller all the way down/off (according to the manual of the boost controller), the car should run off the wastegate which is apparently 5psi...because that's what it runs when I take the controller out...but when I put it back inline...it pretty much won't build any boost and just keeps jerking and blowing off the 2 or 3 lbs it's built up....very weird.

why is an ebc better functionally (thow out all the bells and whistles and just looking at pure ability to raise boost)? They do the same thing.

The only thing i can think of is that its introducing a very large leak under boost, bleeding off the extra pressure when its hooked up
