Test drove a GTUs tonight...quick question

I was driving it and had it in 4th and it was at about 3300 RPM and accelerated and I heard this whining noise coming from the transmission. Only did it in 4th though. Sounded like gears spinning together, didn't really sound bad...just unusual. Any ideas?

Normally worn tranny noise comes from the input gear driving the countershaft.
Noise in 4th is unusual since the countershaft is bypassed & the load goes straight through.
4th gear noise points to bearings.

Negotiate the price & hope a fresh change to synthetic gear oil will fix it.

Well unfortuneately I couldn't negotiate the price because somebody else was buying it already. I mentioned lowering the price but he said I have another buyer for $1500. Oh well. There are other fish in the sea.

The GTUs is rare. Too bad. But in the US im sure they're not nearly as hard to find as up here.

That sucks, $1500 is a good deal for a screwy trans GTUs. I would have grabbed it, but I have a rack of spare transmissions in the garage.
