Terminology

...I am not understanding what some of these terms mean.

I understand that FC is another name for a 2nd gen Rx-7... but whats an S4 and S5?

Here's the begining of a S5 Vin #: jm1fc331*k0...
All second gens are FC's. The way you tell which is which is by the body style diff. engine diff. interior diff. More easily the letter after the * will tell you what year it is. ex. G=1986 K=1989. S4's are 1986-1988 S5's are 1989-1992. Does that sorta anwser your question?
