Thoughts on T04B Conversion

Gday from Australia folks.

Im pleased Ive found this forum and reading through the posts it seems there is lots of enthusiasts here. Good stuff.

Ok Ive got a SII (Gen 1) RX7 with a SIV intercooled turbo conversion and a SIV gearbox. Its mostly stock, k and n inlet filter, front mount 'cooler, 3" mandrel exhaust.

Im dumping the standard SIV turbo and Ive got a mates TO4B to put into it.

Im mostly interested in good circuit performance for weekend amateur adventures - not ultra high end drag stuff more mid range and good top end power. What do people think of this spec;

T04B turbo
.60 AR compressor that has been machined to fit the oversized compressor wheel otherwise the wheel would hit
The garret guy in Sydney said I had a 24 compressor wheel, and he recommended a 25 compressor wheel. He didnt understand all the terminology seen on the net and Im not quite sure what he meant with that.
Same with the exhaust turbine his terminology was confusing...he said there is three different sizes for my turbo and Ive got the largest one.
A 1.00 AR exhaust housing
Rebuild and balance the turbo

Im getting fabbed up a good equal length custom exhaust manifold. Ive got my eye on a 45mm external wastegate and a plumb back BOV from a local vendor www.turbosmart.com.au also their "E Boost" - boost ontroller.

The 13BT is internally stock...compression is good 110 rotor 1 and 100 rotor 2 with 16 inches of mercury at idle vacuum.

Its got a fuel only dinosaur digitech computer and considering stock internals I dont want to do much boost above 10psi.

Fuel should be ok Ive got a pre-pump, surge tank and bosch motorsport fuel pump.

So will this turbo be a good match for my needs? Thanks everyone.

. I've got a 1.15 turbing T04b24 ( close to what you had ). i've found the compressor to be too small and the spool to be too late in the powerband. You may find with yours that you simply don't have enought CFM with a .60 housing , regardless of wheel size. However someone else may have experience with your particular setup that may have some better answers.

Thanks.

I went with the split 1.00 AR housing to get the device spooling quicker.

I dunno, the .70 cover is huge.

I dont want a rotor thats off boost slow, then have like the high end from 6000 to 9000 rpm triple in power....that might be fine for drags but on twisty cicuits its useless.

What do you people think? Am I worried about nothing and I should go for like a T04e/66?

Compressor is part no 409179 - 25 which is 2.16 / 2.76 V trim

Turbine is part no 410188-3 which is 2.54 / 2.92 P trim

So..........68 reads and 1 reply?!? Calling all turbo gurus
