Yes indeed. Tension bolts. I agree whole heartedly. And that goes twice for a good running engine.

88 SE........funny. Downright amusing. I usually leave out half of them on a rebuild to save weight. JBWeld the holes shut.

Oh, by the way, whoever started this thread......well put question about tension bolts. I've often asked the same thing.

I just drill out the front iron and go down to home depot; Pick me up about 25-30 feet of allthread and use that with superglue as threadlocker

banzaitoyota.........I really, really hate to nit pick, but if you would only cross thread the allthread, like your supposed to, you wouldn't need a crutch like threadlocker to hold the engine together. Threadlocker has been known to disolve and cause premature bearing failure. You really need to read factory service bulletin on *threadlocker and bearing failure* available at http://www.alldatadiy.com/ .....before it's too late.

LMFAO!!!

I dont like to reuse old tension bolts, so I am partial to 2 ratcheting motorcycle tie-downs around the length of the block to hold it together...

I build a box around the hosings and irons and fill it full of Great Stuff foam, no oil leaks either?

I also take silly putty and roll it into a long string to use as coolant seals.

Supergluing your apex seals INTO the rotor slots saves hassles during rebuilds.

Grab some KY Gel of you GF's thighs some night to hold the side sals in place

Uh,oh. You mean you guys are not serious? What part was not serious. I was just now rebuilding a engine and used each *trick*. Soooo....which one do I need to undo??? I know it wasn't the silly putty for seals, because that worked a lot better than the factory seals. The zip ties seem to be working just fine, can't be that. I didn't super glue the apex seals, I just installed them and got a punch out and staked them in. I'm not going to install the motorcycle tie downs intil I find out *trick* I need to undo. Please hurry, the JBWeld is setting up around the repaired tension bolts(I'm curious, is there a limit to how many you can glue back together?).

You need to build the engine with one NA and one TII rotor. That way, you can handle boost AND have the low end of the NA...

One n/a rotor and one Turboii rotor? Sure. I didn't fall off the turnip wagon yesterday. Which goes in the front and which goes in the rear? Tried to fool me did you! Mazdatrix site says you can't mix rotors and install them in the wrong order, but don't mention which goes where. Thats http://www.mazdatrix.com the section on mixed rotors. Hurry, the JBWeld has almost setup.

And remember to plumb the metering oil pump into your transmission so you can do the ATF trick as you drive (assuming an automatic transmission)...

NO ONE, AND I MEAN NO ONE, drives a automatic. Now I know your a trickster. That is novel about the atf/automatic transmission trick though. I wonder if I could put atf in my manual transmission. Don't see why not. Manual/automatic, both have gears in there, and atf is thinner so the engine should start better on cold days. Dang. Your on the level aren't you? Can't wait til morning so I can get to work on it. Wow.

I've always been partial to the expanding polyurethane foam. Just spray it into the holes and let it set and your done. Also has the side benefit that if you didn't push the sandwich together enough it seeps out and seals the gaps. And since its strong enough to strengthen a chassis then its gotta double for extra doweling as well - good for over 400hp!

Henrik........I tried the expanding polyurethane foam this morning. I didn't understand where to apply it, but you must do it thru the lead sparkplug holes (obvious place of course). I let it set up for an hour and reinstalled the plugs.

I don't know how well it works though. I must have broken something when I was working on the car, because I can't seem to get the engine to turn over. Starter makes a clunk but I'm not getting any rotation.

Do you think it might be the starter cut relay? Oh, I'm not getting any codes. Must be the starter. How about the atf treatment? I've got the oil metering pump connected to the tranny that's filled with atf fluid, but that won't work until I get the car started. Can't win. Gonna buy a Honda.
EDIT: Dear moderator, this is the type of post you get out of me when I can't post jpg's out of the fsm on this site to help people solve their rotor motor problems.

Why would posting Funny Sailor Movies help us solve our RotorMotor Troubles? Now I am real confused. I would turn the AFM upside down and port the Air pump to it.

Funny sailor movies! Watch what you say there! Those were *Art Films*, in the best traditon of Larry Flynt. Now on to the purpose of this site. I can't port the air pump to the afm. I'm using the air pump as a supercharger(yet another trick I learned on the Forum). Running close to 400 rwhp........if I can only get the engine to turn over. Probably a fuse, their such a nusiance.

Small world. I actually stacked 2 air pumps together, used some zip-ties to hold them together, and connected their shafts together to make a turbo. Then I routed my split-air pipe to get my exaust pressure. I can get 20-25 psi! I then took a tire-pressure gauge, and modified it into a pimp-*** BOV. Man, you guys should hear it. phsst! phsst!

Did I mention that I'm running this on an otherwise stock NA!
