tempature problem ..

so i just changed the thermostat n hoses on my car .. and now the temperature wont even reach a quarter .. i think since its not hot enough .. cuz when i try n redline its not smooth in second gear it kinda studders .. noob help sorry n sorry again if this is a repost i searched =X

you probably installed the thermostat upside down

When you check, also make sure the air bleeder hole is on the top!

and another thing, make sure you use a MAZDA thermostat. dont use any other brand from an auto parts store. call the dealership and get one from them

so i checked if it was upside down and it wasnt .. do thermostats have to be broken in ? cuz today it was pretty hot out n my car finally reached a quarter n a lil bit higher .. but went back down after freeway driving .. anymore suggestions ? its still around 1/5 of the temp gauge tho .. when i drive around

As Felix mentioned, don't redline the engine unless you're warmed up.

Man, the only way you're going to get a good reading is installing an aftermarket temp gauge. The stock gauge is notoriously inaccurate and comparisons between cars is suspect at best. While yours sits around 1/5, mine sits closer to 1/3. If you really want to know exactly what your temps are.... get another gauge.

what brand is the thermostat? does it say what temperature it opens at?

is the little bleeder thing doohicky in the right place?

S4 or S5?

GET AFTERMARKET GAUGES, by the time my stock gauge says the cars fully warm, my water temp and oil temp having even started to move yet, takes another 5-10 minutes.
