Temp sensor unit
man been a while since i have had to post an issue on here!. lol
ok. i have a 89 t2. what is going on is that my temp gauge has been reading really low lately.
it started first where it would be warming up and the gauge would kinda bouce? i guess you could call it. like if im driving and hit the light relfectors on the road i can see the temp gauge drop slightly then come back up. but it always went back to where it was suppose to be.
now it just reads very low. i have the fsm and know what to either replace or check.
but my questions are these.
1- i have s4 na parts car assuming the temp senor and gauge work. are they interchangeable with my s5 t2?
2- should i just cut to the chance and get off my lazy *** and install the aftermarket temp gauge and sensor i got from like oreilly a few months back .

1. no S4 is different
2. no just buy a new sensor, they aren't expensive

its in section 15, body electrics. to get to it, open the hood (i kid!), unplug it, and i think its either a 12 or a 14mm 1/4" drive socket, and it just comes out. put a small drip pan underneath, as you will loose an once of coolant or so

Coolant temp. gauge sender: Post 1, pic #3: tiny round sender screwed into the block with one wire pin. This sends coolant temp. info to the gauge. Mounted above and to the left of oil pressure sender (the bigger mushroom looking one).
