Trying to build a hybrid

Well I've been looking all over and I'm having trouble with all the v trim, p trim, 70mm etc. I know you can bolt a garrett t04b compressor to the stock turbo. I just don't know which compressor wheel and housing to use. I wan't to run a safe 15psi. Also if anyone knows where I can buy reasonably priced compressor housings, wheels and backplates that would be nice too. Someone told me it could be done for $250 but I'm having trouble finding a compressor housing for under $250. Also as far as I can tell I want a "70x55.30 mm, 62 trim, V trim (48 lbs/min)" because I have a compressor wheel for it already. I just can't find a compressor housing and backplate to match it.

I know there's a thread where people were bouncing ideas and parts around for DIY hybrids and rebuilds. Try searching "rebuild stock turbo" or something like that, I haven't seen it in a while.

You may be able to do it that cheap if you buy a blown donor turbo with everything in good shape. Look for the hybrid build thread made by rotaryrocket88.

Okay so I know what I'm going to do (thanks for the redirection to that wonderful thread). Anyways, I've found everything I need to build a hybrid. I just need to know if a Exducer: 69.31mm, Inducer: 53.90mm compressor and housing would be a good fit for the stock hotside. How would it be as far as spool and maximum boost. I'm pretty sure the stock compressor is 44mm inducer and 63mm exducer.

that is close to the V trim wheel that is normally done. a super V is 55mm and 69.85mm.

its been a long time since i had one, but with a boost controller, i could get 11psi by like 2500rpm, which is what i had it set to run. not sure what you mean by maximum boost, but i'm pretty sure if you unplugged the wastegate you'd see 20psi

I meant what would be the top end of the efficiency range

just generally, it could hit 20psi around 4500, and still be in the 72% efficiency island. boost is limited higher than that by the turbo rpm, and it'll be down around 13psi by redline

I had to drill out the stock S5 turbo CHRA bolt holes (for the backplate) to get it to line up with the T04b backplate. Something that I guess I missed while searching or no one ever said something about it.

Well it's been awhile since I posted anything. I managed to build a hybrid out of a 73mm/63mm t04b compressor housing. Long story short I got everything back together and now it won't spool past 4 psi. There are three things I can think of. First is the afr's. They get into the 9's because I got bigger injectors. The second would be that I scarred the dynamic bearing a little bit. Third is that the compressor wheel originally fit on a bigger shaft so it's not a real tight fit. Would any of these give me the lack of boost problem I'm having?

But would't that keep it from boosting at all. I tightened down the nut on the compressor wheel.
