TB Mod induces low idle

I performed the TB Mod on my GXL, but now the car is idleing REAL Low. Right now, it is at about 500RPM, and the adjustment screw on top of the TB is turned pretty much all the way open. I think it is about to come out!

Anyhow, I did the swap to a spare TB, so I would not mess up the current one, so the settings most likely are different from what was on there before.

Any Ideas as to what needs to be tweeked? I messed with the throttle return dashpot thing and that did nothing.

Thanks

Carl

It sounds like your old TB may have had an air leak around where you did the mod. As long as the idle is smooth, just adjust the butterfly shaft idle stop.

Yeah my idle is held up by putting tension on the cruise control cable, works great, and I have a ported TB as well.

Hmm, I guess I could do that. No problems with the workings of the cruise control?

Please excuse the old-school carb terms. The upper throttle shaft has a mechanical rotation stop just under the forward end. It has an adjusting screw and is secured by a jam nut.

Do it the ghetto way and tighten up the throttle cable. I wish I'd never done the TB mod now.
