Talking Tanabe GF210 vs. Eibach Pro

Does anyone know why the Tanabe GF210's are so much cheaper than the Eibach Pro springs? I see about the same amount of people using either one but the Tanabe's are about $100 cheaper? Any comments why I should pay more $$$ for the Eibachs?

Is it just branding?

[/Sarcasm] Special steel? Patented coil design? Super energy returning paint? Nicer box? The word 'Pro'? [/Sarcasm]

Your input is appreciated!

the Eibach are a progressive rate spring so the manufacturing process might be more expensive. and maybe they just decided to price them higher.
there's no other reason the Tanabe should be cheaper.
i went with them over all the other springs out there. i've liked them so far.

find out the spring rates on both, i'd get the ones with the stiffer spring rates although they're probably gonna be around the same. the best springs you can buy are probably RS*R, they come with a spring rate of 6K Front and 5K Rear. But they have been discontinued so it might be a little hard to get some. i used to have RE Amemiya springs with rates of 5K/4K, but chances are you're never gonna see a set of those either. eibach and tanabes might have like a 2K spring rate max, so yeah.

Doh!

I guess my choices were made for me already. I looked at Tiens but I see so many people with fitment issues and I do want to get a wider tire/wheel combo to meet my ~300whp target. Probably 17x7 +40 all around w/ 215/45/17's.

Tein are crappy performance wise, they're really soft and wont do much other than just lower your car. try to see if you can find some RS*R's somewhere. i found these eibachs on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Eibac...spagenameZWD1V

just look around for what you really want, if you really can't find it, then get your second choice.

that is a horrible offset for the rear.

You'd need at least a 1" spacer to make it look halfway decent.

why 215s? You should be able to fit 225s, and if your goal is 300whp you'll need it.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

Turbo2FC3S- I'm trying to avoid eBay for the springs since I can get ripped off and won't even know it. At lease with the shocks it's a bit harder to copy since the adjuster ***** for the rears are harder to replicate.

RX7-Kid - I also looked at coilovers but DAMN! that's expensive. I don't think I can use them to their full potential.

Ruthless1- I see what you're saying. I was just checking out the wheels threads and most people are using 225's up front and like 245's in the rear. I just don't know enough about What actually fits to know the exact size/dimension of the wheel and tires. I don't want to use spacers so I'm probably going to try and find something that's at least 8" wide in the rear to support wider tires. Your wheels actually looked like the set I saw at tirerack. What brand/size wheels and tires are those?

I saw some Kosei K1 TS 17x7 +40 at 14lbs! for $199 each! That's freakishly light. Unfortunately Tirerack only sells them in 17x7s. It would be nice if they had 17x8s.

No ****! I didn't even think that they are that light so I'd never looked. I guess those are the ones then! I'd go for performance over looks anyday.
