Taking off the eccentric shaft lock bolt?

Is there any easy way of taking off the E shaft Lock bolt without using or having a ring gear brake. we have tried a few things and that bolt is just caked in there. We broke 2 wratchets already

I am almost done taking apart the engine for the rebuild, and am stuck with this stupid bolt.

Also, does anyone know where to get rotors and casings for cheap? I also need seals. Thx

Lets see...bolt...bolt...has to be the one at the front of the shaft since you said BOLT. Hold the nut on the other end with a 2 1/8 socket and breakover and use a 1/2 inch drive breakover and 19mm socket on the bolt with a cheater bar.

If you meant the 2 1/8 nut ......a piece of angle iron with two holes to match the holes that hold the clutch on will work. Bolt the four foot plus piece of angle iron on the flywheel, apply the 21/8 inch socket with breakover to the nut. Strike the breakover with the 20 lb sledge hammer two or three times(poor mans impact gun). Thats about as cheap as I can make it without calling in a impact gun etc.

Was the only thing I couldn't get off when taking things off my engine.

Final solution..........after 500ft/lb impact didn't get it off...I put the flywheel back on the rear of the shaft and torqued it down. Used part of the engine hoist to keep the flywheel from turning(with clutch bolts in place to grab) and held back of engine down while using a 2 ft breaker bar on the lock bolt.

I think the thing that finally broke it loose was using a deadblow to smack the breaker bar/lock nut axially while putting all my weight at the end of the breaker bar.

Heating would also help a lot as they put loctite on the bitch when they put it in there.

Good luck

I just did one day before yesterday. I had a flywheel brake to hold the flywheel still since the engine is out of the car. I took it to my shop and put the engine in a giant hydraulic vise to hold it still. THe 400psi impact gun didn't get it off, so i used a 4 1/2 foot braker bar and it came right off. If your engine is out of the car you will have to get a couple big friends to sit on it to hold it still. The trick is in the leverage. The longer the braker bar the less force you have to put into it. If the engine is in the car, do this: Put a big *** breaker bar on the drivers inner fender and hit the starter. The bar won't move but the motor will spin and unscrew the bolt.

We had to rent the 2 1/8 socket and we have already takin it back, had it for a day. I guess we should of got the other bolt off too : /... the engine is out of the car and we have had about 350 pouns worth of people holding the engine down while we tried taking it off, we had about a 2 ft breaker bar and we ended up braking 2 wratchets , this is the only thing holding me back from ordering parts and putting my baby back together. I can't take it anymore ahhhhhhhhhhh (hell no, I'm not bailing now!! )
