Takeoff is slow as hell
I don't know why, but whenever I take off from a light my rx accelerates slow as hell. Then when I get into 2nd gear it starts flying. Is this the famed 3000 rpm hesitation? or because it is an automatic it is just slow. Please help!

It could just be because it is an automatic
For a good launch if I am really giving it some oomf, I launch at 5k-6k RPM...The automatic I assume launches at about idle speed (750-900), your torque sucks at that level and isn't really good until 3000-3500 RPM =/

the only thing I ever noticed in mY Turbo II when changing the oil (after the previous owner had not changed it for a while)
only thing I noticed was smoother acceleration and driving with maybe a little HP recovery.

my car used to be an auto and believe me it will be slow off the line no matter what you do. I had racingbeat header and presilencer and cat-back, intake, pulleies, and a CAI, and it was still a dog off the line. So I suggest taking it to KD rotary, pay them around 2 grand to get the manual swap with a light-weight flywheel and a good clutch. It will take probably a year or so but when you get the car back you will never figure out why you got an auto in the first place.

mine was also an auto too and had the same problem. if you have an auto the best performance mod you can make is change it to a manual. i paid 850 dollars parts and labor for mine to be converted by a guy that works for mazda and does jobs on the side. it didn't take a year for me, more like 2 weeks. he got kind of bogged down with nopi and family visiting. but i am really satisfied with the work. all the parts were used minus the clutch. the acceleration is like night and day between the auto and manual. good luck
