You mean besides that they are highly illegal in my state (and they are not DOT legal either)...

Better than some, but they still look like painted lights

Another example of how this "jdm craze" capitalizes on un-informed owners.

i dont really know how you can say that ... everything to do with RX-7's is "jdm" already (except for maybe the seatbelt sliders?? we dont have those in canada though). There is a noticable difference in design and in all honesty if it werent for the price tag i would change mine too. The S5 have a more unique look plus they are more sporty.

about the tailights? ummm no. if you have S4's dont try to make them S5's .... do something "different" with the S4's, like painting the outside housing to match you paint or tinting.

It seems most people don't even know what JDM means. "Japanese Domestic Market" refers to OEM models or parts sold on the Japanese market only. It does not refer to Japanese cars sold overseas, or parts sold in Japan and other countries, or to aftermarket parts sold in Japan. The term has been hijacked by kids driving Hondas and shady parts suppliers.

Exactly...JDM is not an aftermarket modification. JDM RX-7 tails lights is bullshit. I have the same tail lights that came on cars sold in Japan. The EDM lights are differnent in the size of the license plate section, but the lamps and shape of them are stil lthe same.

Everything on my RX-7's is USDM, United States Domestic Market. You really should do some research and find the differences between JDM, USDM, Aus DM, and EDM. There are more than just a handful of differences.

I hate to say it, but those lights aren't entirely offensive. Sort of have a half and half S4/S5 look, and it's not too bad. Probably ilegal in most areas, and I doubt that I would put them on my car, but I've seen much worse.

This is the sort of misunderstanding I'm talking about. There aren't that many "USDM" parts on your car, because most of the parts are identical to those on FC's all over the world. You do not have USMD body panels or USDM engine internals or USMD suspension components, etc, etc.

I've seen worse. I've see cars around here with taillights only .250" tall. We have a little more liberal law enforcement around here I guess.

Oh ok, I think I'm right in saying this, but if I'm wrong tell me. The ECU in my car is stock from factory, but it is USDM since I have seen and installed a real JDM ecu and the car idles different. Also I just purchased anther 7 with a JDM ECU and harness. So far, the diagnosis has been, that it doesn't idle correctly. But there has bee nvery little diagnosis after that. CMIIR, but isn't there also different resistances for some of the small sensors.

EDIT: Yup your right, not all of my car is USDM, just a few parts of it.

yes you give really good advice ... try to use it for yourself sometime soon. I guess what your saying is your car was built in america?

You really do like to confuse some people lol ... in very simple terms JDM means a japanese product. Even if the product is shipped to america it remains a japanese product ...

btw just thought i would say that the more i look at the lights the more im starting to like them.... i dont know how it would look lite up though ... cause the lights are centered in each rectangle housing

It was built in Japan like all other RX-7's, to a particular specification for the US.

No, that's not what it means. It means it is a car or OEM part that is/was sold on the Japanese Domestic Market, i.e just for Japan. Not confusing, very simple.

How do people like that sleep at night?!

Those tails are just another example of 'kids' using stickers to 'customize' their car. Even worse its making your car less safe. Having smaller and less visible tail lenses isn't a COOL thing. It looks like those stickers cut the lense surface area down A LOT.
